Hoffenheim to unveil new stadium sponsor on Bundesliga return
TSG Hoffenheim, the top-tier German soccer club, have secured a new stadium naming rights sponsor, signing a deal with the Schwarz Group, a private family-owned German retail group, according to reports in the country.
Schwarz Group's waste disposal business Pre Zero is to put its name to the venue, with the branding set to be in place for the game against Bayern Munich on 18 January when the Bundesliga returns from its winter break.
Hoffenheim have played at the Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena, sponsored by Wirsol, the solar energy company, since 2011. That deal was worth around €1.2 million ($1.4 million) per year.
Schwarz Group also owns Lidl and Kaufland, the supermarket chains.
In August, WVV, the German energy supplier, renewed its sponsorship of the Rhein-Neckar Arena until 2021.
It is one of four sponsors of the club-owned stadium, sitting beneath the naming partner, alongside Heidelberg Cement, SAP and Südzucker.
