IMG, the international sports and entertainment agency that promotes the FIA World Rallycross Championship, has agreed a deal with motor insurance company Dayinsure to be the official title sponsor of next year’s UK round of the series.
The Dayinsure World RX of GB takes is scheduled to take place on 25 and 26 May at the Silverstone circuit next year as the main attraction of the SpeedMachine Festival, for which Dayinsure will also be an official partner.
The SpeedMachine Festival has “revolutionised traditional motorsport by creating the ultimate adrenaline-fuelled weekender, fusing World Championship action with star music acts, street food, eSports, family entertainment and more,” according to IMG. The event’s debut this year attracted more than 27,000 visitors.
Paul Bellamy, the World RX managing director for IMG, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Dayinsure as we bring World RX of GB back to SpeedMachine Festival for another weekend of action-packed and high-octane entertainment in 2019. With Dayinsure’s support, we have even bigger and more exciting plans for the eagerly-anticipated follow-up at Silverstone.”
Dennis Ryan, Dayinsure’s founder and chairman, said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed our involvement with Wales Rally GB and during that time our business has gone from strength-to-strength – now we are building on that success by introducing the benefits of Dayinsure to a new, younger and more dynamic generation of customers.”
This year, Channel 4, the UK free-to-air broadcaster, picked up rights to broadcast the World Rallycross Championship in a deal with IMG.
Channel 4 showed hour-long highlights from each round of the championship, including the World RX of Great Britain race.
Live coverage was also secured on FreeSports, the free-to-air sister channel of UK pay-television broadcaster Premier Sports.
IMG told Sportcal that it is “still in discussions on a 2019 UK TV deal” for the series.Sportcal
