Copa90 recruits Rodriguez to aid growth
Copa90, the international digital soccer network, has appointed Robert Rodriguez to the role of chief growth officer.
Rodriguez, a specialist in digital sports partnerships, counts Rebel Ventures, Facebook and Fox Sports among his previous employers.
In his new role, based in Copa90’s Los Angeles office, Rodriguez will analyse content, audience, data and innovation as the company continues its global expansion.
This is expected to include engagement with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Netflix, Snapchat and Twitter.
Copa90, which launched out of the UK in 2012, is a fan-focused website that specialises in content away from the field of play. It now has 3.3 million likes on Facebook and 1.7 million subscribers on YouTube, and had a team of 300 providing content from this year’s Fifa World Cup in Russia.
Copa90 investors include the likes of Infront, Liberty Media and Turner International.
Before joining the company this month, Rodriguez, who hails from Southern California, was vice-president of global partnerships at Rebel Ventures, the Los Angeles-based digital strategy agency.
Prior to that he worked on global sports partnerships at Facebook, as head of global football and athletes, having earlier been director of digital media for Fox Deportes, the Spanish arm of US sports network Fox Sports.
