Siesta gets EuroLeague seat
Siesta, the Turkish business-to-business furniture manufacturer, has signed up as an official partner of European club basketball’s top-tier EuroLeague for the 2018-19 season starting this week.
Under the deal announced on Tuesday, Siesta, which operates in 75 countries and exports 80 per cent of its products, will receive significant exposure across EuroLeague Basketball platforms, notably the EuroLeague ‘Game of the Week’, which receives broadcast coverage in over 100 countries, and at the season-ending Final Four.
The deal is understood to have been negotiated with the involvement of Saran Media, the Turkish media rights specialist.
The EuroLeague represents an attractive vehicle for Siesta given the competition’s strong presence in Spain, Greece, Germany and Italy, foreign markets in which the furniture company is well established, and potential for global exposure.
Tuncay Işıldar, the president of Siesta, said: “A focus on quality is what makes Siesta products so unique and special, just like the EuroLeague.”
Roser Queralto, the chief development officer of EuroLeague Basketball, added: “We welcome Siesta as another partner with global ambitions and the vision to see basketball as a way to realize those ambitions. By putting its trust in Euroleague Basketball to make that happen, Siesta has shown that our sport is a great vehicle by which business can raise to new heights."
The Turkish corporate sector is one of the biggest supporters of the elite 16-team EuroLeague, led by title sponsor Turkish Airlines.
Spain’s Real Madrid will be looking to defend their EuroLeague crown as the 2018-19 season gets under way on Thursday.
