Singtel deals with IMG for FA Cup, Eredivisie and CSL
Telecoms operator Singtel has augmented its soccer coverage in Singapore by acquiring live rights to three overseas competitions, including England’s FA Cup, starting this season.
In addition to the top English knockout competition, Singtel has agreed deals for the Netherlands’ top-tier Eredivisie and the Chinese Super League, all with IMG, the international sports agency responsible for distributing the rights.
The matches will be available on the Mio Sports TV channels and the Singtel Cast streaming service.
The FA Cup, which was won last season by Chelsea (pictured), will complement the live Premier League matches already shown on Singtel platforms in a deal running to the end of the 2018-19 season.
The first round of the cup competition takes place in November, with the top clubs joining in the third round in January.
Goh Seow Eng, Singtel managing director for home, consumer Singapore, told The Straits Times: “We are pleased to give our customers front row seats to the FA Cup, which together with the Premier League, is among the world’s most-watched football tournaments. With the inclusion of the Dutch League and the Chinese Super League, our viewers get access to an even wider variety of leagues and games.”
