Paddy Power puts name to Champions League of Darts
Paddy Power Betfair, the Ireland-based betting company, has acquired title sponsorship rights to the next three editions of Champions League of Darts, the Professional Darts Corporation event that features the top eight players in the world.
The deal was announced today with Paddy Power succeeding Unibet, the pan-European online betting and gaming company that was title sponsor for the first two editions of the tournament.
The first Paddy Power Champions League of Darts takes place on 22 and 23 September in Brighton, on England's south coast.
As well in-venue branding, Paddy Power will run a series of social media videos with competing players, which will be available via their Twitter and Facebook pages in the lead up to the tournament.
Paddy Power said it will pay out £50,000 ($64,238), to be shared among the spectators, should there be a nine-dart finish during the Champions League.
The BBC, the UK public-service broadcaster, has shown the Champions League since it launched in 2016, and last year extended its deal with the PDC until the end of 2019.
Paddy Power's previous association with darts was its title sponsorship of the PDC's World Grand Prix between 2001 and 2003.
