MP & Silva brokers Taiwan TV deal for Korean baseball
The Korean Baseball Organisation, the top-tier professional baseball league in South Korea, is to be shown in Taiwan after a deal was struck between the league and Sportcast, the digital sports broadcaster.
The one-year agreement was brokered by MP & Silva, the international sports marketing agency.
A match between NC Dinos and LG Twins was the first to be aired under the deal today.
Sportcast will also offer live streams of games on its website and mobile app.
In a statement, the KBO said: "We hope this deal will draw international interest in the KBO and will create opportunities for further globalisation of the league. We would also like to see more Asian players, such as Wang Wei-chung (the first Taiwanese player in the KBO), in KBO uniforms, and we'll keep trying to expand our foothold in Asia.”
Shinhan Bank, one of South Korea's largest banks, is the title sponsor of the KBO in a three-year deal worth 24 billion won ($22.5 million).
