Strathmore brings refreshment to European Championships
Strathmore, the Scottish water brand, is the latest company to sign up as a sponsor of the 2018 European Championships, the new multi-sports event taking place in Glasgow this summer.
Strathmore, owned by drinks company A.G. Barr, has supported several major international athletics events in the UK in the last year, and will be on hand to provide water to the around 3,000 athletes set to take part in the championships, from 2 to 12 August.
Glasgow 2018 staff, volunteers and medical teams will also have access to Strathmore products.
The partnership was launched today at an event attended by Scottish swimmer Ross Murdoch (pictured), a Strathmore ambassador set to compete at the European Championships.
In addition to aquatics, the Glasgow showpiece includes competitions in cycling, golf, gymnastics, rowing, and triathlon, while the athletics element takes place in the German capital Berlin.
Strathmore was a sponsor of last year’s World Athletics Championships in London, as well as this year’s World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow, and is a regular presence at mass-participation events in the UK.
The other Glasgow 2018 sponsors signed up to date are Atos (IT services), Gleneagles (luxury hotel), Harper Macleod (law firm), Avid (broadcast graphics), NVT Group (IT services), Aggreko (power supply), Arco (uniform), and Glasgow Airport.
Jonathan Kemp, Commercial Director at A.G. Barr, said: "We're incredibly proud of the work that Strathmore does to encourage more people to take part in sport as part of its Do More campaign, so to be the Official Water of Glasgow 2018 European Championships, a multi-sport event which will engage and inspire so many people, highlights our ongoing investment and commitment to all levels of sport.”
