Instagram searching for head of sports
Instagram, the photo-sharing application owned by Facebook, is looking to hire a head of sports.
The role will be based at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California in USA.
Instagram has said it is looking for a “strategic, creative and entrepreneurial leader” that has experience and a skill set to “create value" for the platform's sports partners.
The head of sports will lead Instagram’s sports partnerships efforts globally and work closely with Facebook’s sports unit to build and execute strategies.
Responsibilities of the head of sports include: lead development of Instagram sports partnership strategy and partnership best practices; initiate, negotiate, and project manage high priority partnerships in conjunction with Facebook's sports partnerships team; and serve as internal advocate within Instagram for partners, including working with sales and product teams.

Facebook has streamed various sports events on its platform in the last few years as a result of tie-ups with broadcasters and leagues, however, Instagram, which has a live video function, has predominantly been used for social content.
Facebook recently sealed a landmark digital-only national broadcast deal with Major League Baseball for the 2018 season.
Instagram presently boasts around 800 million users.
