Lagardère Sports to represent rising English golfer Plant
Lagardère Sports, the international sports marketing agency, said today that it has signed a multi-year management and commercial representation agreement with Alfie Plant, the English golfer who will compete in this year’s Walker Cup, for when he turns professional.
Plant’s place in the Great Britain and Ireland team that will face USA in the Walker Cup for top amateur players at the Los Angeles Country Club, was confirmed this week.
In 2017, Plant has won the European Amateur Championship, gaining a place in the British Open at Royal Birkdale where he won the silver medal as the highest-finishing amateur.
Jamie Salmon, head of European golf at Lagardère Sports, which recently launched a player management service in Europe, said: “We’re thrilled to announce Alfie as one of our first major signings in Europe and look forward to working closely with him in what is a very exciting time in his career. We’ve been really impressed with everything about Alfie both on and off the course, and the way he handled the attention and media spotlight at the Open was a glowing testament to his character.”
This year’s Open Championship was won by USA’s Jordan Spieth, perhaps the highest-profile athlete represented by Lagardère Sports.
