ULEB Cup 2006-07 Opening Game
The opening game has become a celebration of the rapidly growing level of competition the ULEB Cup has to offer. The first opening game in 2004 featured the previous two ULEB Cup winners, Pamesa Valencia and Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem. Last year's edition pitted Skyliners of Frankfurt against Lottomatica Roma and Dejan Bodiroga. And in that tradition, Montepaschi, a two-time Euroleague Final Four participant making its ULEB Cup debut this season, hosts German powerhouse Alba Berlin in this year's first game at 18:45 CET in Siena, Italy
Events surrounding the opening game will begin when Montepaschi and Alba hold official practices partially open to the media on Sunday, the day before their game. Montepaschi practices from 16:30 to 18:30, with the last half-hour accessible by journalists, who can also see the first half-hour of Alba's practice, which goes from 18:45 to 20:45.
Then, on Monday afternoon at 17:30 local time, the presentation of the ULEB Cup Official Guide for 2006-07 will be made at the press conference room in Palasport Mens Sana, the home court of Montepaschi. The press conference will also include announcements regarding the new Euroleague Basketball Masters in Sports Marketing and Communications, launched in cooperation with Italy’s Ca’Forscari Formazione e Ricerca University. Euroleague Basketball CEO Jordi Bertomeu and Professor Tiziano Vescovi, who will direct the masters program, will be at the press conference.
After the press conference but before the game, players and coaches from both Montepaschi and Alba Berlin will assist in the presentation of the guide on court before the game in a photo opportunity. A post-game reception will be held in the same complex at the conclusion of the opening game between Montepaschi Siena and Alba Berlin.
