Barcelona, 1st March 2007:
Euroleague Basketball has announced that Ukraine is the latest country where TV broadcasts of the competition will be seen, starting with a double session tonight: first the live broadcast of the Olympiacos vs. CSKA game, plus Tau vs. Lottomatica Roma on tape delay. Ukraine brings to 130 the number of countries where Euroleague Basketball games are broadcast, a record in terms of television coverage for the competition. Ukraine is the eighth country that has joined the list this season. The others were: Bulgaria (Ring TV), Finland (Viasat Sport), Bosnia-Herzegovina (SportKLub and BHT 1), FYROM (Kanal 5), Montenegro (TVIN), the Phillipines (Basketball TV) and Albania (Premium). All of the more than 230 Euroleague games this season will be broadcast on television. In Ukraine, Sport 1 of Poverkhnost TV will broadcast two games weekly during the Top 16 and the Quarterfinal Playoffs, as well as the 2007 Final Four.
"We salute the debut of Poverkhnost TV as a Euroleague Basketball broadcaster and their very important present and future plans for the development of audiovisual business in their country," Andrea Bassani, Euroleague Basketball's Director of Television, said. "We are very happy to bring Euroleague Basketball to a new country with more than 45 million people with a two-year non-exclusive agreement that brings fans in Ukraine the decisive part of the current season and continues next season with even wider coverage of our competition. We welcome Poverkhnost TV as a new and important partner on the ever-widening map of Euroleague Basketball television across the world."
