The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team defeated finalists Canada 4-0 to win the Nike U.S. Women's Cup for the seventh time in succession on Sunday. Playing at the Civic Stadium, in Portland, Oregan, the day was highlighted by U.S. midfielder Kristine Lilly appearing in her 200th game for the United States.
The veteran of three Women's World Cups and one Olympics becomes the first player in international soccer history, man or woman, to play 200 times for her country. The appearance sets a new world record and far out-strips the male record for the most appearances for a national team held by GermanyÆs star player Lothar Matthaus.
