Tokyo Hosts 5th World University Baseball Championship
The Japanese University Sports Board together with the All-Japan University Baseball Federation will host the 5th edition of the FISU World University Baseball Championship. The event will be staged in Tokyo and was officially opened today by the President of the Japanese Olympic Committee Mr. Takeda Tsunekazu at the Opening Ceremony.
Main venues of the event are the Meiji Jingu Stadium, home of the pro-team Tokyo Yakult Swallows with a capacity of 37,933; the Yokohama Stadium, home of the pro-team Yokohama Bay Stars with a seating capacity of 30,000; KAIT Stadium and Utsumi-Shimaoka Ballpark.
Eight national university teams will bat for the precious gold:
- Canada
- China
- Chinese Taipei
- Cuba
- Japan
- Korea
- Sri Lanka
- United States
The first games are scheduled for July 30th (TPE vs. CAN; USA vs. SRI and JPN vs. KOR) while the event will last until August 7th with the final at 6 pm local time.

TV Broadcast
NHK BS-1 will live broadcast the game JPN vs. KOR on July 30th.
BS-Asahi will live broadcast JPN vs. CUB on August 1.
J-Sports will broadcast all games of Japan, Semi-Finals and Finals.
