TOKYO 2016 Welcomes Forbes.com Travel Study: Tokyo's Haneda International Airport Second Best in the World for Avoiding Flight Delays
The Forbes.com study advised that travellers wanting to avoid flight delays should head to Japan, as its airports were rated as the best in the world for on-time departures.
Six of Japan's airports figured in the American website's top 10 for on-time departures.
Osaka Itami International Airport emerged as the world's most efficient, with 97 per cent of flights leaving on time in 2007. Osaka Itami also fared well for arrivals, with just eight per cent of its flights landing after schedule.
Dr Ichiro Kono, Chairman and CEO of the TOKYO 2016 Olympic Games Bid Committee, said: "TOKYO 2016 is extremely pleased that the Forbes.com study is helping to publicise something we've known for a long time - that Japan is an extremely easy country for international travellers to arrive and depart from. We can guarantee the Olympic Family comfort and efficiency should we be given the honour of hosting the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, heralding a new golden era for our city, our country and the Olympic Movement."
