Sydney 2000 Olympic Games - IBF has produced a "dummy" list of qualifiers, based on the world ranking of 24 February 2000.
The Olympic Games qualification Regulations are quite complex, so to assist your understanding we have run through the procedure and produced a 'dummy' output. The linked pages below show the World Ranking of 24 February 2000. Players and pairs who would have qualified, if it was 1 May 2000, are listed in red. At this time we have only listed 29 players in each of the singles and 19 pairs in each of the doubles events. When the actual list is produced on 1 May 2000, these numbers will be extended, if there are players that have played in more than one event. This is very important, as the aim is to fulfil badminton's quota of 172 players at the Games. Only the top ranked players and pairs have been listed. In accordance with the Regulations an NOC can choose to disregard ranking order, if the opportunity arises. For example in the men's singles list China have 5 players in the top 16. The top three ranked players have been highlighted, but the Chinese NOC could, if it so wished, choose any three from these top 5.
