Solomon stuns Saints
Solomon Haumono left officals at St George Illawarra stunned by his sudden decision to quit the game. He told the coach and his fellow teammates that he was retiring for personnal reasons - believed to be closely related to his Muslim religion. The often controversial forward began his career with Manly in 1994 before moving to Canterbury at the end of the 1996 season, where he too suddenly walked out. Following a couple of tumultuous years, of which he travelled to England with then girlfriend, Gabrielle Richens, Haumono joined Balmain in 1998. He signed for the Dragons in October after rejecting an estimated offer of around $200,000 to join the West Tigers.
