PyeongChang Fosters Volunteers With Foreign Languages in Preparation for 2014 Games
Gangwon Province PyeongChang Office of Education holds a foreign language school every vacation aimed at enhancing their students’ ability in foreign languages in the area. It will also help in fostering volunteers with foreign languages in preparation for 2014 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games bid.
The school teaches foreign languages including English and Japanese, with the help of foreign language teachers, native speaker-instructors and students of Han-Guk University of Foreign Studies.
The PyeongChang Office of Education will also operate an ‘English Zone’ during the semester where only English will be used. This will be helpful for PyeongChang in securing bilingual volunteers, if it wins the right to host the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2014.
Along with about 120,000 members of Dong Sa Mo (Official supporters for 2014 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games bid), the participants of ‘HAPPY 700 PyeongChang Winter Vacation Foreign Language School’ will play a significant role in the successful operation of the Games.
Kim Jin-Sun, Governor of Gangwon Province and Executive President of 2014 PyeongChang Bid Committee, said: “We will make significant efforts so that foreign visitors including the Olympic family could enjoy attending the Games without any inconvenience in terms of language.”
