Premier League Appoint New Head of Media Operations
The F.A. Premier League is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Lines as their Head of Media Operations.
This newly created role is responsible for all the operational aspects of the Premier League's broadcasting agreements, overall control of premierleague.com, The F.A Premier League official website, as well as providing strategic advice on international broadcasting.
Phil Lines has a wealth of experience in all the above matters, both at home and abroad. Having started his career in sports journalism, he moved into television sports production with the BBC. He has held various senior positions in sports broadcasting covering Olympics, World Cups, Cricket and Formula One.
He is currently Head of Development at Granada Sport, a position he has effectively held for three years having done the same job at United News and Media before their acquisition by Granada. A key part of his experience has been the production of F1 for ITV and the creation and management of the itv-football website.
Richard Scudamore, Chief Executive of the Premier League, said today: 'Phil Lines has built a considerable reputation in both his own and our industry so we are very pleased to have attracted him to the role. Broadcasting is an integral part of our business and the complexities of our agreements need a person of this calibre to take us forward. We know this is a great move for us and for Phil.'
Phil Lines will take up his new position on 26 August 2002.
