New IDSF Adviser for Southern African Region

Following his extensive visit to Southern Africa in May, 2004, IDSF President Rudolph Baumann has announced that at his personal request, the IDSF Presidium, meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland on June 18, 2004, appointed Mr. Michael Kahn, of Johannesburg, Republic South Africa, as IDSF Advisor for the Southern African Region to advise and work in conjunction with IDSF, particularly the IDSF Planning & Development Commission and the IDSF Membership Commission, to promote DanceSport in African countries south of the Equator.

President Baumann points out that this is an important step to organize the thousands of athletes in the Southern African Region. 'This region is one of our development regions, and a huge growth area, and I am sure that Mr. Kahn will do this job with great energy and integrity', he said.

IDSF represents DanceSport Federations in 81 countries. In 1997, it received Full Recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the sole worldwide representative body for DanceSport. As part of this worldwide mandate, IDSF is working hard to bring all interests in the South African Region under one umbrella.
