NBA Versus Euroleague Basketball Live from Cologne: PLAZAMEDIA to Produce “NBA Europe Live” as the Host Broadcaster
Ismaning, October 11, 2006. With an eye on the pros, PLAZAMEDIA is to produce the worldfeed for the four matches of “NBA Europe Live presented by EA Sports™” live from the Cologne Arena for German’s pay-tv broadcaster Premiere. The games are the conclusion of the largest NBA initiative to date, where four top teams from America preparing for their annual season will play the best of the European teams.
As the host broadcaster, PLAZAMEDIA will be in charge of handling the production on October 10 and 11 as NBA Europe Live wraps up in Cologne. Around the world, 177 broadcasters – 45 of them in Europe – will transmit the live matches produced by PLAZAMEDIA. The full-service provider for TV and new media will deploy six cameras and two MovingChips. These movable cameras are to be affixed directly to the baskets where they can capture the dynamic basket shots at their optimum. Aside from the signal with international graphics, PLAZAMEDIA will also provide an exclusive feed for Premiere using two additional cameras and special highlight editing.
Around 40 PLAZAMEDIA employees will be on-site for the technical production each game day. Germany’s largest sports TV producer will also handle the unilateral production for nine foreign broadcasters on site: Sport 1 (Holland), BeTV and Prime (Belgium), Canal+ (Poland), RTR (Russia), ERT (Greece), CzechTV, ITV (England), and Canal+ Sport (France).
On October 10, the two Euroleague finalists, ZSKA Moscow and Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv, will play each other in Cologne, then going on to play the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns. The respective winning and losing teams of those games will then play one another on the second day of play.
