Men’s Handball Champions League Presents New Advertising Concept
Hamburg / December 7, 2006 - The marketing experts at the European Handball Federation (EHF), and the SPORTFIVE sports rights agency - with whom they signed a marketing collaboration in May 2006 - have jointly standardized and fine-tuned sponsor publicity in the Handball Champions League. This became possible after the federation centralized the advertising rights for encounters in and beyond the round of sixteen, starting with the 2006/07 season.
The new concept includes standard-colored flooring for all matches in the final rounds, and a clear, uniform perimeter board look with a total of four sponsors. This season, the prominent advertising space will feature the league’s three international sponsors: Samsung, bet-at-home, and Intersport. The fourth sponsor in each case will be a regional partner, one of the respective home club’s main sponsors.
“We’ve found an excellent solution for giving our Champions League partners an ideal platform,” declared Michael Wiederer, Secretary General of EHF. “The uniform appearance of the perimeter boards and the straightforward concept will improve the publicity for sponsors throughout the main stages of the competition.”
“The reformed advertising concept finally makes it possible to offer sponsors professional publicity in European handball,” explained SPORTFIVE Managing Director Thomas Röttgermann. “The association has taken the right steps towards giving the Handball Champions League a sharper profile.”
