Manchester Utd v Liverpool Available on the Net

Servecast in association with Liverpool Football Club have announced the first ever screening of a pay per view premiership football match via the web.

The match, Manchester United vs. Liverpool, will be available to watch on-demand from midnight 22 January 2002. Access through the club’s official website, www.liverpoolfc.tv, will be free to subscribers to Liverpoolfc.tv’s e-Season Ticket package. The game will also be made available to non-subscribers on a pay-per-view basis at a cost of £2.99.

Measured in terms of combined fan following, this game is easily the biggest club encounter in the world and this initiative marks the beginning of an exciting new way for fans around the globe to watch the two giants of the Premiership as they battle for the top spot.

Utilising Servecast’s dedicated content delivery network the game will be streamed at 225 and 450Kbps enabling viewers with high bandwidth connections to receive near-TV quality pictures of the match.

Servecast was appointed Liverpoolfc.tv’s exclusive streaming partner in August 2001 and broadcasts exclusive news and feature clips to its registered 'E-season ticket' holders around the world.

Liverpoolfc.tv is the most popular club web site in the UK, registering 22 million page impressions a month. The site’s success is attributed to Liverpool’s emphasis on providing a user experience that focuses on access, enjoyment and security.
