Athletes1 Agency Acquires Australia's Impact Sports Management
London based athlete management company athletes1 has finalised its acquisition of Adelaide athlete management business, Impact Sports Management. athletes1 acts for over 150 top athletes internationally, including England and Australian cricketers Mark Butcher, Alec Stewart and Darren Lehmann and Rugby League ‘Man of Steel’ Paul Sculthorpe.
This acquisition, in conjunction with athletes1’s head Australian office in Melbourne, gives athletes1 a strong Australian presence. Director of athletes1, Solicitor and former county cricketer, David Ligertwood commented;
'We are very pleased to have completed the ISM deal. ISM has an excellent reputation for quality of service and integrity. Now with this base in Australia, not only are we in a position to provide our innovative professional services led management service to Australian athletes, but also to increase the numbers of young Australian sportspeople that we source playing and competing opportunities for in Europe.'
athletes1 Australia has enjoyed a successful first 12 months since the appointment of Managing Director, former Essendon AFL Premiership Footballer, Rick Olarenshaw. This success was recently shown in the AFL draft with 12 athletes1 Australian Rules Footballers getting drafted to AFL clubs.
The athletes1 business has also been significantly enhanced recently by the appointment of former England and Luton footballer, Ricky Hill, to head the Football Division. In the last couple of months Ricky has signed the first crop of athletes1 footballers;
'I am delighted to be part of the athletes1 team and to have an opportunity to provide such a unique and professional service to today’s footballers. Football is becoming a complicated business and being able to sign with an agency and immediately have a lawyer, accountant, tax and financial planner on your team is a huge plus. It is nice being able to go to these kids that I coached at Spurs, Sheffield Wednesday and Luton and really help them out should they require any assistance.'
Ricky is now actively working with the Australian operation to secure European playing opportunities for Australian soccer players.
