ISSF Shotgun World Cup Kicks Off from Tucson, USA

Munich, 20/03/2012 – The 2012 ISSF World Cup Series kicks off form Tucson, USA, where the first ISSF Shotgun World Cup Stage will take place from the 24th of March through the 1st of April.

The ISSF, the world governing body for the shooting sport that supervises on the 15 Olympic shooting events, organizes a yearly World Cup Series, a qualifying event for the Olympic Games divided in several Stages.

More than 250 athletes coming from 33 courtiers will take part in the first Shotgun shooting World Cup Stage of the year, one of the last international matched before the 2012 Olympic Games in London. World’s leading shooters, former Olympic and World Champions as well as top athletes trying to make their respective Olympic teams will participate, competing in Skeet, Trap and Double Trap events. Among them, 30 athletes rank within the ISSF top-10 in their respective disciplines.

The Tucson Trap and Skeet Club, were the event will take place, was founded in 1948 and has been an USA Shooting training centre since 2009, is considered one of the oldest and largest clubs in USA. This year, the club will host the ISSF World Cup Series for the first time.

The event will be produced by ISSF TV and distributed via Eurovision World Feed. The News Feed will take place on 01/04/2012, 04:00 - 04:15 GMT. The Final Highlights on 04/04/2012, 12:00-12:30 GMT. The event will also be broadcasted via YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/issfchannel

The 2012 ISSF World Cup Series will then move to London, where the pre-Olympic ISSF World Cup in all events is set to take place from the 17th through the 29th of April, then in Lonato, Italy, where the last Shotgun World Cup stage prior the Olympic Games will take place from the 1st through the 8th of May.
