Further UEFA Champions League TV Deals Announced
UEFA today announced that contracts have been signed for the sale of the UEFA Champions League television rights for the seasons 2003-2006 in the following countries:
Africa – Supersport
Albania - Klan TV
Armenia - Armenia TV
Cyprus - Lumiere TV
Finland - Nelonen/Channel 4 and Viasat
Japan - SkyPerfecTV and JSkySports (Pay TV) in combination with Fuji TV (terrestrial)
Malta - PBS
Moldova - Teleradio Moldova
Poland - Polsat
Romania - Pro TV
Turkey - Star TV
In addition to those listed above, agreements already concluded or announced include various broadcasters in UK, France, Holland, Greece, Belgium, Scandinavia, Ireland and Israel.
So far, over 50 deals have been agreed at least in principle covering 109 territories around the world including pan-regional deals. Further announcements will be made in due course when full contracts have been signed. UEFA is extremely pleased with the progress to-date.
In all cases, very good coverage has been obtained for the competition, and in all the markets announced today the overall rights fees have increased.
Commenting on these latest TV deals, Gerhard Aigner, UEFA CEO, said:
