FINA Visited The Bid Of Moscow (RUS) On March 31- April 2
Lausanne (SUI), April 4, 2005 – The FINA delegation composed by the FINA Executive Director Cornel Marculescu, FINA Marketing Agent (Dentsu) representatives Akira Hirakata and Akino Fuchi, and FINA TV Counsellor Keith Thomas visited from March 31-April 2, 2005 the City of Moscow, one of the bidders for the 13th FINA World Championships 2009. In the Russian capital, the FINA representatives were welcomed by the President of All-Russian Swimming Federation and FINA Vice President Gennady Aleshin, by the General Director of “Olympiiskiy” Sports Complex Vladimir Churilin and by the Executive Director of Moscow 2012 Olympic Bid Committee Alexander Polinsky.
Together with the Russian authorities, the FINA delegation analysed the proposed plans for venues, accommodation, transportation, TV production, and marketing strategy of the championships. After receiving from the Russian representatives their full support to the successful organisation of the Championships, the FINA delegation expressed its appreciation and recognition for the work done so far by the bid of the City of Moscow and All-Russian Swimming Federation.
After Athens (GRE) and Moscow (RUS), the next visits of the FINA delegation to the bidders of the 13th FINA World Championships 2009 are scheduled as follows:
· Rome (ITA) - April 25-27, 2005
· Dubai (UAE) – April 29-May 1, 2005
· Yokohama (JPN) – May 12-14, 2005
The FINA Bureau will decide the host of the 13th FINA World Championships 2009 on July 16, 2005 in Montreal (CAN).
