Fifa President Blatter Prevented from Attending WADA Conference
Contrary to newswire reports published over the past weekend, FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter will not be attending the WADA World Conference on doping in sport in Copenhagen, which is due to begin today Monday and which will end on Wednesday 5 March.
As per previous FIFA information, Mr Blatter is prevented from travelling to the Danish capital due to meetings of various FIFA Standing Committees starting today Monday in Zurich. Mr Blatter also confirmed this in a fax sent Friday evening (28 February) to Mr Brian Mikkelsen, the Danish Minister for Culture.
At the WADA conference, FIFA will be represented by Dr Michel D'Hooghe, Chairman of the FIFA Medical Committee, Prof Dr Jiri Dvorak, member of the FIFA Medical Committee and Chief Medical Officer for the 2002 FIFA World Cup as well as Prof Dr Toni Graf-Baumann, also member of the FIFA Medical Committee.
On behalf of FIFA and the Olympic Team Sports Federations, Prof Dr Dvorak will make a presentation on Tuesday, 4 March, within the framework of Conference Session 4 (http://www.wada-ama.org/docs/web/schedule-eng.pdf)
