ESA to Challenge Moves to End Alcohol and Fast Food Sponsorship
The stage is now perfectly poised for The European Sponsorship Association (ESA) to challenge and debate these issues at its forthcoming sponsorship forum, ‘The Power of Prohibition: Defining strategies to tackle the increasing threat of sponsorship legislation’ on Thursday 26 April:
What effect would a total ban on alcohol sponsorship, for example, have on sports and cultural events which rely on funding from this industry?
Is it possible for the alcohol, fast food and online gaming industries to implement social responsibility programmes whilst serving the interests of their shareholders?
Can proposed legislation be enforced on a pan-European scale?
What research is there to affirm a direct link between sponsorship and consumer misuse?
Richard Moore, Chairman of ESA Training and Education commented:
‘ESA stands at the forefront of sponsorship development and continues to lobby government, regulators and The European Commission on key issues affecting the industry. This forum will give sponsorship practitioners the chance to voice their opinions, ask probing questions and participate in what will be a lively, challenging and informative event’.
ESA is pleased to announce that Gareth Roberts, Sponsorship and Media Relations Controller for Carlsberg, Antonio Costanzo, International Sponsorship Manager for Bwin and Nicky Fuller, Chief Operating Officer, World Snooker will be joining the debate.
The Power of Prohibition is the third of the half-day forums in the 2007 ESA series. Bringing sponsors, rights holders, agencies and industry service providers together, the forums address the important issues which affect the sponsorship industry and invite a dynamic exchange ideas and insights.
