11-Par Scoring System to Make UK Womens Debut at Gerrard British Grand Prix

Squash - 05 Sep 2006

The 11-PAR scoring system, used on the men's professional World Tour for over two years, will make its women's debut at the forthcoming Gerrard British Grand Prix Squash Championships to be staged at the National Squash Centre in Manchester from the 8th to 11th September 2006, announced Tournament Promoter Paul Walters of internationalSPORTgroup.

"Feedback from spectators and players has been very positive towards the 11-PAR scoring system since it was first introduced on the men's World Tour in 2004," commented Walters. "The inaugural Gerrard British Grand Prix in the same year was the first event to showcase the scoring system in the UK amongst the games top male players, and it is a logical step to introduce the new scoring system at this year?s ladies competition."

The 2006 Gerrard British Grand Prix Women's Championship will feature British Champion Tania Bailey, England No.1 & World No.5 Vicky Botwright, World No.6 Jenny Duncalf and World No.10 Alison Waters and will be scheduled alongside a star-studded eight-man championship, comprising Amr Shabana, Thierry Lincou, David Palmer, Lee Beachill, Anthony Ricketts, James Willstrop, Karim Darwish and Nick Matthew.

"The women's competition is instrumental to the overall success and appeal of the Gerrard British Grand Prix and the introduction of the 11-PAR scoring system will hopefully provide the best possible spectator appeal," added Walters.
