Chris Clouser Announced as Chief Executive of ATP Properties
The ATP, governing body of the men's international tennis circuit, announced today that it has appointed Chris Clouser as Chief Executive Officer of ATP Properties and President of ATP, Inc. He's also been appointed President of ATP Foundation.
Clouser comes to the ATP with an extensive international business and marketing background that includes experience with Northwest Airlines, Burger King and the Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball Club.
'Consistent with our strategic objectives, I am delighted to announce an appointment that represents a significant enhancement to our capabilities and a streamlining in our structure,' said ATP Chief Executive Officer Mark Miles. 'Chris adds an enormous set of business experiences and talent to our senior management team. He has established himself as an international marketing executive who gets things done and, in particular, his experience in managing global brands along with communications, sponsorships and marketing activities in more than 30 countries will be a tremendous asset to the ATP's player and tournament members.'
Most recently, Clouser was brought in by Diageo to serve as EVP/Chief Global Marketing Officer and President of Burger King Brands, and to help manage and complete the sale of Burger King in December 2002. He previously served as CEO of the Minnesota Twins and was an executive board member of the Twins from 1994-2000. In 1998 and 1999, Clouser was President and CEO of Preview Travel, which merged with Travelocity to form the leading global Internet travel company.
From 1990-1998, Clouser was Senior VP of Advertising, Communications, Administration and Human Resources for Northwest Airlines and was responsible for many national and international activities of the world's fourth largest airline, including serving on the KLM/Northwest Global Alliance board. Prior to Northwest Airlines, he held officer positions with Bell Atlantic, Sprint and Hallmark Cards.
'As a lifelong fan and tennis supporter, I'm eager to join the ATP since its tournaments and players have so much to offer sponsors, television broadcasters, media and fans,' Clouser, 51, said. 'We plan to spend this week and the Wimbledon fortnight meeting with members of the tennis family, many with whom I've worked previously, along with others in the business community. I'm extremely pleased to accept a position that combines my passion for tennis with my experience in marketing, business and communications.'
Throughout his career, Clouser actively has supported tennis and sponsored several ATP tournaments and events. In 1994, he founded, along with Time magazine publisher Jack Haire, the Northwest Airlines Legends of Time tennis tournament at the International Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. He now serves on the Tennis Hall of Fame International Council, and serves on the boards of several companies and charitable
organizations.
Clouser will oversee ATP Properties, the Americas region, ATP Foundation and all Communications and Marketing functions. Clouser and his wife, Patsy, have two sons: Todd, 22, and Bradley, 19.
