Chilli Television Launches Windsurfing Show on Channel 4

Windsurfing - 19 Oct 2000

Chilli Television, the youth and sports lifestyle production company, recently launched by Sportsworld Media Group, have produced a one-off lifestyle windsurfing show for Channel Four which will be broadcast this Saturday 21st at midday.

The show covers the recent PWA (Professional Windsurfers Association) event in Ireland, which was sponsored by the Irish Tourist Board as part of their international tourism initiative. The Channel Four show is just one element of the international media exposure that the event will now receive through PWA media agents SSM Freesports, another arm of the Sportsworld Media Group. Other international exposure includes dedicated episodes of the World Windsurfing television show, distributed in over 48 countries world wide and extensive international magazine coverage, publicising the event and Ireland's reputation as a top water sports venue.

One of Britain's top sailors Nik Baker will present the show. Following the event Nik is now ranked number two in the world and is poised to become PWA Wave World Champion at the next PWA Wave event in Maui next month.

The show includes action and interviews with many of the top names in the world of windsurfing including legend Robby Naish, Nik's Maui housemate wave ace Jason Polakow, current champion Bjorn Dunkerbeck and heading up the women's fleet the Moreno twins from Spain.

Simon Wells, head of production at Chilli Television said: 'The increasing demand for diverse and dynamic terrestrial television provides an opportunity to showcase some of the best action and show a side to the sport that viewers rarely see.'

The show will be broadcast in the UK on Channel Four at 12pm on 21st October.
