London – April 2, 2003: British Speedway has joined forces with E-Tote Ltd, to launch a brand new gaming website, and betting facility, www.speedwaybet.com. Speedwaybet.com will offer pool betting, with guaranteed jackpots on all SkySports Elite League meetings, as well on all Speedway Premier League meetings. Bet 5 Get 5 offers punters who bet £5 on the website a further free £5 bet.
The agreement has been put together by Go Speed, who exercise the commercial rights to British Speedway. This is the first season that British Speedway has had an official betting partner, and has marketed itself as a gaming medium. This move reflects the sports growing popularity, fuelled by its live coverage on Sky Sports TV.
Terry Russell, CEO of Go-Speed says;
'The launch of Speedwaybet.com is a key development in the future of the sport in the UK. It gives speedway fans a chance to use their knowledge of the sport to beat the bookie and aim for one of the jackpot prizes. It also provides an alternative betting medium to those who like to have a punt but may not have been involved in speedway before.'
Edwin Osborne, Managing Director of E-tote adds;
'The speedway market is relatively untapped as a betting medium. Whilst we aim to make Speedwaybet.com the focus point of our activity, we will also offer a telephone service to potential users. In addition we aim to have E-tote betting offices at each stadium within the next few months.'
Chris van Straaten, Chairman of the BSPA comments;
'As the sport becomes more popular, we wanted to offer speedway fans an officially sanctioned service that would be of interest to them but would also to benefit the sport as a whole. We also decided that in the best interest and integrity of the sport to make it betting a pool based system. We look forward to seeing the first speedway fan to walk away with a jackpot win.'
To facilitate the fast and accurate flow of information, essential to a gaming operation, all tracks will now have a system in place to call live results through to a central resource.
