Zee Sports Host Broadcaster for India vs. Japan AFC Asian Cup 2007 Qualifier
Japan coach Ivica Osim has decided not to make any changes to his squad for next week’s Asian Cup 2007 qualifier in India, naming the same players who were involved in their international friendly against Ghana. The 23-man squad is made up entirely of players from the J.League and includes Gamba Osaka striker Ryuji Bando, the league’s top-scoring Japanese player this season with 15 goals. Midfielders Alessandro Santos and Keita Suzuki of league leaders Urawa Reds are also included, along with Kawasaki Frontale striker Kazuki Ganaha, who scored the winning goal in the 1-0 win at Yemen last month that clinched Japan’s spot in next year’s Asian Cup finals in South East Asia.
Uncovered be the prospect of taking Japan in their home AFC Asian Cup qualifier match on Wednesday, India bubbling with new found confidence under new coach Bob Houghton, look to make life difficult for their illustrious opponents. India already out of contention for the Asia Cup final stage would be playing for pride against Japan. The match against Japan would be important, as it would be the last match in which the seniors will be playing together before the Doha Asiad to be held in December.
