Wind Surfing Programme Seeks Sponsor
A major UK sports broadcaster has expressed an interest in transmitting a programme on wind surfing, featuring Lucy Horwood – British Formula Wind Surfing Champion 2000/01, Welsh National Champion 2001 & 3rd female in World Formula Championships 2000/01.
Lucy has been selected by the RYA as the sole female to join the British team representing Britain in the World Wind Surfing Championships at Brazil in October 2001.
The intended show would be half hour in duration, and transmission would be likely in November or December, 2001
Sponsorship is required to cover the costs of making the television programme, which will need to be scheduled for transmission with the broadcaster before the end of August 2001. It is likely that costs and therefore funding required will be between £15 - 25,000. Sponsors would have a major opportunity for advertising their logos and or products.
Profile of Lucy Horwood
21-year-old Lucy has been wind surfing since she was 10 years old, so that many of her surfing skills are second nature to her.
Educated in Wales, Lucy is bi-lingual in Welsh and English and currently reading Sports Sciences at Cardiff University.
Lucy finds her degree useful to her career in wind surfing as she constantly applies her knowledge to analysis of her performance in wind surfing championships.
Lucy’s long-term goal is to compete in the 2008 Olympics representing Britain & Wales should there be a Formula Wind Surfing Class included at that time.
In the short term Lucy is determined to finish her degree whilst constantly fine tuning her existing skills in wind surfing to achieve ever higher standards in her chosen sport. Lucy has the competitive personality, drive, enthusiasm, experience and determination to succeed.
Currently sponsored for her equipment by Tushingham Sails; her wet suits by Sola Leisure Wear and Animal Clothing for her sports wear, Lucy works to earn the money to enable her attendance at events & championships when she is not studying at college.
