The organizers of this year’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK, have added Chase, the new digital bank of US financial services firm JPMorgan Chase, to the portfolio of top-tier sponsors for the event.

Chase, which launched last year, becomes the official banking partner of the games in a deal that also includes sponsorship of Team England, Team Scotland, and Team Wales.

In addition, the bank becomes the presenting sponsor of the cycling and women’s cricket T20 events at the Games, with women’s cricket debuting at the Commonwealth Games for the first time.

The partnership will also see Chase extend its community-based programs in the Birmingham and West Midlands area as part of its Chase Rewards Futures initiative.

The initiative launched in December will see 150 primary school libraries across the UK updated.

Deborah Keay, chief marketing officer at Chase, UK, said: “The Games represent a huge opportunity to engage, unite, and inspire the UK, providing an opportunity for everyone to celebrate sporting achievements, as well as delivering a lasting legacy for local communities.”

Birmingham 2022 now has four top-tier sponsors, with Chase joining luxury watch brand Longines, energy company E.ON, and the University of Birmingham.

Second-tier sponsors include water company Severn Trent, Japanese camera manufacturer Canon, and professional services company PwC.

Ian Reid, chief executive at Birmingham 2022, said: “They [Chase] are clearly committed to investing in the local community and we look forward to working together to make a positive impact on people’s lives and leave a lasting legacy.”
