RMC Sport draws season-high audience for PSG Champions League defeat
RMC Sport, the French pay-television broadcaster, scored its highest audience of the season for European soccer’s Uefa Champions League for this week's semi-final clash between home club Paris Saint-Germain and England's Manchester City.
The RMC Sport 1 channel attracted an average of 1.6 million viewers for Wednesday's first leg, which City won 2-1
This was RMC Sport's second-best audience ever, surpassed only by the Champions League semi-final between PSG and Germany's RB Leipzig last season.
Until this week, the network's highest audience this season was 1 million for PSG's 4-1 win in Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16.
There was a cumulative audience of 2.4 million for this week's match, and RMC Sport had an audience share of 10.5 per cent among 25-to-49-year-olds, making it the third leading channel in this sector in the timeslot.
The second leg of the semi-final takes place next Tuesday, with the final to be held in Istanbul on 29 May.
RMC Sport is in the last year of a three-year rights deal for the Champions League and Europa League, with pay-TV duo Canal Plus and BeIN Sports to show the elite tournament from next season.
