SailGP pops cork with Champagne Barons de Rothschild
SailGP, the annual international sailing series, has unveiled a new deal with Champagne Barons de Rothschild ahead of the 2021-22 season.
The tie-up will see the prominent champagne house serve as an exclusive supplier to the league, with a presence at all events.
The sponsor has a long association with sailing, including through a partnership with Benjamin de Rothschild's family racing team, the Gitana Team.
After a hiatus in 2020 caused by the coronavirus pandemic, SailGP will resume with its second season starting in Bermuda on 24 April.
The series will continue to Italy, Great Britain, Denmark, France and Spain, before a first event in New Zealand, in Christchurch, and culminate with the Grand Final in San Francisco in the USA on 26 to 27 March, 2022.
Sir Russell Coutts, chief executive officer of SailGP, said: "We are delighted to announce Champagne Barons de Rothschild as an exclusive supplier to SailGP. Their values of total discipline, high standards and attention to detail align perfectly with ours. We are excited for our second season to start on April 24 in Bermuda, and I can’t think of a better way to toast the thrilling victories."
Frédéric Mairesse, managing director at Champagne Barons de Rothschild, added: "The finest sporting performances are always a source of emotion and shared enjoyment, not only among the athletes but among the spectators and fans all around the world. We are delighted to be helping to promote this spirit of conviviality and excellence that is a driving force in everything we do."
Earlier this week, SailGP agreed a multi-year deal with the US-based professional services giant Cognizant which will work with the series on its website and mobile app.
