NRL aims for fast recovery with Therabody
Australia’s National Rugby League has today unveiled a new partnership with recovery technology brand Therabody.
Under the sponsorship deal, the length of which has not been disclosed, Therabody will serve as the official recovery partner of the men's and women's NRL Telstra Premiership, and of the Kangaroos and Jillaroos, the respective national teams.
As part of the tie-up, the NRL will receive education on the importance of optimising player recovery between matches.
Dr Jason Wersland, Therabody founder and chief wellness officer, said: “Rugby league is known for being one of the most intense, full-contact sports and it has incredible demands on both the body and the mind. We’re honoured to be developing the league’s recovery protocols to ensure that each athlete is not only performing at their highest ability on the pitch, but that they are optimizing their overall well-being far beyond the pitch.”
Jaymes Boland-Rudder, head of partnerships at the NRL, said the deal reflects a shared vision for innovation, player well-being and high performance.
He added: “Effective recovery is critical for the well-being of rugby league players – whether they’re young guns or seasoned players. Just as the game has evolved, so as the technology our athletes use to play at the highest standard.”
The agreement with the NRL complements other deals Therabody has secured in recent months with soccer clubs Arsenal in England and AC Milan in Italy and Formula 1's Red Bull Racing team.
