Infront searching for summer sports director as Herth to focus on football
Infront Sports & Media, the international sports marketing agency, has kicked off its recruitment for a director of summer sports.
The search comes as the Zug-based agency is set to separate the executive management of soccer-related activities from other summer sports.
Stephan Herth, the long-serving Infront executive, is currently executive director of summer sports but is expected to take on a new role of executive director of football once the new director of summer sports is found.
The summer sports portfolio includes sports such as basketball, cycling, handball and volleyball, and was expanded last year as the Wanda-owned Infront sealed an exclusive eight-year deal with the Badminton World Federation for all media distribution and sponsorship rights.
Listing the director of summer sports position today, Infront said that it is looking for candidates with at least 10 years of relevant experience to lead the summer sports teams in Zug and abroad.
Herth, who was previously Infront’s senior vice-president of media, and led the agency’s European media rights sales to the 2006 Fifa World Cup, is still heading up the summer sports operations for the time being and would advise during any handover period.
Uwe Ploch, who moved over to Infront upon its creation in 2002, has worked as director of summer sports at the agency but now occupies an advisory position as part of the extended management team.
Infront created the summer and winter sports business units in 2006 as it continued its diversification after handling the sale of worldwide broadcast rights to the Fifa World Cups in 2002 and 2006.
