Gravity Media Australia, the regional arm of the UK-based live broadcast facilities provider, will continue to supply its specialist camera technology at the Wimbledon grand slam tennis tournament after extending its partnership with the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC).
The new deal, which begins next year, will see Gravity Media keep providing its NetCam camera technology on Centre Court and Court number one, as it has done since 2018.
The cameras, mounted within the center strap of the net, give audiences a new vantage point during play. Both players are filmed simultaneously, and the shots are then transmitted via a mobile control room or production truck to broadcasters for their global coverage.
Paul Davies, head of broadcast, production, and media rights for Wimbledon, said: “The use of NetCam on Centre and No. 1 Court brings a unique and dynamic perspective to the broadcast coverage during The Championships.
“The delicate challenge of integrating these cameras within the grass courts has always been sensitively managed between Gravity Media Australia and our ground staff and we look forward to continuing this long-standing partnership.”
The NetCam was designed and developed by Gravity Media Australia specifically for tennis coverage and is also used at the Australian Open and US Open grand slams, as well as the men’s ATP and women’s WTA finals.

By GlobalDataGreg Littrich, director of operations at Gravity Media Australia, said: “We're pleased to be working in partnership with The All England Lawn Tennis Club and delivering our specialist camera technologies to add further depth and audience engagement for the internationally recognized global television coverage of Wimbledon.”
Since 2014, host coverage of Wimbledon has been provided by NEP UK, the regional division of the NEP Group production technology and services firm. The company will continue to supply the technical broadcast delivery for the competition until 2026 after renewing its partnership with the AELTC last year.
In May, the AELTC recorded an operating profit of £47.05 million ($58.9 million) for the 12 months up to July 31, 2022, after returning to full crowd capacity for the 2021 edition.
The AELTC’s main revenue drivers are broadcast and commercial deals, with the body saying that “income from broadcasters represents more than half of the company’s turnover and a small number of key broadcast markets, notably the UK and the USA, represent the majority of that income.”
The AELTC renewed rights deals in both aforementioned markets in 2021 – with the BBC in the UK until 2027 and with ESPN until 2035 in the US.
For 2022, meanwhile, the body has noted in the ‘significant contracts’ section of its report that a new deal was struck with Eclat, covering 15 countries in Southeast Asia.
