Two new tournaments and the launch of three phases of competition are some of the noticeable developments included in the 2024 season of European golf’s top-tier DP World Tour.
Next year’s revamped calendar was unveiled yesterday (August 14), with the new events scheduled to take place in Dubai between January 11 and 14, and in Bahrain from February 1 to 4.
Members will compete for a record overall prize fund of $148.5 million outside the Majors – an increase of around $4.3 million from this year.
The calendar will feature what the tour describes as "three new and distinct phases" on its season-ending 'Race to Dubai': five ‘Global Swings’ from November this year to August 2024; a ‘Back 9’ in September and October next year; and then two playoff events next November.
In addition to the new tournaments, there is a return for the China Open in May for the first time since 2019, and date changes to events in Denmark, the UK, and Abu Dhabi, with the latter event having been moved from the season’s start to its end. The Nedbank Golf Challenge, meanwhile, moves into December 2024 and will therefore become part of the tour’s 2025 schedule.
In total, a minimum of 44 DP World Tour events will take place in the 2024 campaign, across 24 countries and five continents.

By GlobalDataThe schedule has been released against the backdrop of negotiations around the merger (announced in June) between the DP World Tour, US golf’s PGA Tour, and the Saudi-backed LIV Golf property.
Keith Pelley, chief executive of the DP World Tour, said: "Our 2024 season will see our members come together to compete across a global schedule, with greater opportunities and rewards than ever before.
“The many new and original enhancements we have introduced will guarantee drama and excitement for our fans, our broadcasters, and all our stakeholders across the entire season and means, more than ever, that every week counts on the DP World Tour.”
The five individual Swings will be as follows: the Opening Swing; the International Swing; the Asian Swing; the European Swing; and the Closing Swing.
The playoffs, meanwhile, will incorporate the final two Rolex Series events of the 2024 season – the Abu Dhabi Championship and the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, where the number one tour player for the campaign will be crowned.
The initial three Rolex Series events will take place next January, July, and September.
Overall, the 2024 season will begin on November 23 this year, in Brisbane, Australia, and will end in Dubai on November 17, 2024.
At the end of the season, the leading 10 players will share a bonus fund of $6 million.
