The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) governing body has begun the tender process for selecting a title sponsor for its top-tier home events from the 2023-24 season onwards.
The BCCI released information on the tender process yesterday (August 1), giving interested parties a deadline of August 21 until which the tender documents will be available for purchasing.
A new title sponsor is being sought with Mastercard, the credit card giant that is the incumbent of that commercial slot, set to see its deal expire soon.
That company has been the BCCI’s lead sponsor since September 2022, with the agreement having extended across men’s and women’s national team home matches during the last year, as well as Indian domestic cricket.
It is likely that the BBCI will take a similar approach to this tender as it did for the one it used to select a lead sponsor for Indian national team rights – that process excluded applicants from sectors such as sportswear, alcohol, betting, cryptocurrency, and tobacco.
The BCCI has reserved the right “to cancel or amend the bidding process at any stage in any manner without providing any reason,” and has said it is only inviting bids from “reputed entities.”
