Italian soccer’s top-tier Serie A Femminile women's competition now has a new title sponsor after agreeing a deal with e-commerce giant eBay.
This marks the extension of a partnership between eBay and Italian soccer’s FIGC governing body that was first struck in May last year. At that point, however, the platform was designated as a premium partner, with telecommunications giant TIM having held Women's Serie A title sponsorship rights for the last few seasons.
The new partnership, the Italian soccer body has said, “confirms the profound sharing of values and objectives between eBay and the FIGC."
The Women’s Serie A is about to enter its second professional season, with the move to professionalization having come before the 2022-23 campaign.
The 10-team league will kick off its 2023-24 campaign on September 16, and the season will end in mid-May.
For the last two seasons, it has been covered in terms of domestic broadcast by over-the-top platform TIMVision and by La7.

By GlobalDataGabriele Gravina, president of the FIGC, said: “We announce an extraordinary collaboration for the world of football as a whole because it is based on the sharing of a path of values and training as well as on the recognition of the role of women in our world which, after the experimentation of the last championship, now takes on an even wider dimension. Thanks to eBay, this will be the season of the definitive consecration of the professional Women's Serie A.”
Alice Acciarri, eBay Italy’s general manager, added: “We are thrilled to confirm the partnership with the Women’s Serie A and to be the title partner of the Italian top league.
"Continuing to support professional female players, their values and their passion represents a further opportunity for eBay to confirm our concrete commitment in terms of inclusion and female empowerment.”
Aside from its Women’s Serie A title sponsorship, eBay is also a commercial partner of multiple heavyweight Italian teams, including Inter Milan, AC Milan, and men’s Serie A champions Napoli.
The men’s league, meanwhile, has been title-sponsored by TIM since before the turn of the century, with that deal running through 2023-24.
