France-based chemicals firm Arkema has expanded its partnership with the French Football Federation (FFF) national governing body for soccer to include the country’s women’s national soccer team.

Through the deal, announced yesterday (July 6), Arkema is now a commercial partner of Les Blues’ women’s side until 2025.

The two-year period encompasses the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup (WWC), next year’s Olympic Games in Paris, and the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championships.

The chemicals company was a partner of the 2019 WWC in France and has most prominently been the title sponsor of the D1 Féminine top-tier women’s league since the beginning of 2019-20. Its deal for the league runs until 2025, with the 2019 deal marking the first time the competition had secured a title sponsor.

FFF president Philippe Diallo said: “The FFF is delighted to welcome this major industrial player as a partner to our national women's team. This new partnership is entirely consistent with the federation's ambition to develop the game to the highest level. As a pioneer partner of the women's first division, Arkema also wished to be part of the new project and the new challenges of the French national team.”

Thierry Le Hénaff, chair and chief executive of Arkema, added: “Together with the women's French national team we support strong common values of commitment, performance, sharing, and inclusion. So, for us it is a source of great pride to stand by Les Bleues and their high ambitions for the upcoming competitions: the 2023 World Cup this summer, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and Euro 2025.”

The French women’s team will play its first match of the 2023 WWC on July 23 against Jamaica.

At its most recent major tournament, the 2022 UEFA Euros in England, the team was knocked out at the semi-final stage by Germany.

Diallo was confirmed as the FFF’s full-time president until the end of 2024 in mid-June.
