European soccer’s governing body UEFA has announced German insurance group Ergo as the second national sponsor for the 2024 European Championship taking place in its home market.
Under the agreement, announced today (June 14), Ergo becomes the exclusive presenting partner of the volunteer program for the premier continental national teams tournament, which UEFA is organizing together with the 10 host cities for the first time.
The program is anticipated to feature a record number of 16,000 volunteers.
The deal was brokered by the CAA11 agency, which is responsible for the worldwide sale of sponsorship and licensing rights for UEFA's men's national team competitions.
Ergo joins Deutsche Bahn as a national partner after the German national railway service was unveiled on Monday (June 12).
UEFA marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein said: “Ergo is a long-time supporter and partner of football in Germany, which makes it a perfect fit to become a partner of UEFA Euro 2024.

By GlobalData“We look forward to collaborating with Ergo on the UEFA Euro 2024 volunteer program, as the 16,000 volunteers will play a highly essential and valuable role throughout the tournament welcoming everyone to the host country.”
Lena Lindemann, member of the board and labor director of ERGO Group, added: "We will be using our many years of experience in sport sponsorship to help present Germany as top-tier hosts to our many international guests, and contribute to the success of this special event.”
UEFA has agreed deals with three other companies to serve as national sponsors for Euro 2024 and will announce them in the coming weeks. With a year to go until the tournament, the national sponsor program is now considered by UEFA to be complete.
Nine global sponsorships have also been secured for the event, six of which have already been announced (adidas, Alipay, Atos, Lidl, Engelbert Strauss, and Vivo), either as part of the full UEFA National Team Football program or specifically for Euro 2024.
The tie-up with Lidl was announced most recently, in March.
The continental body still has limited sponsorship packages available for the competition.
