French electrical supplies firm Rexel has today (May 31) been unveiled as an event partner of road cycling’s iconic Tour de France (TDF) in a three-year deal.
Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), the TDF’s organizer, has said the partnership will “give a jolt to the Tour’s ambitions to speed up its electrification and support communities in their energy transition.”
The partnership will focus on improving the Tour’s environmental sustainability.
ASO has said that, for the last decade, the TDF has been committed to becoming a more eco-responsible organization to protect the landscapes that surround the race routes.
The TDF cut its direct carbon emissions by close to 40% between 2013 and 2021, according to ASO.
Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France, said: “Teaming up with an expert in the energy sector such as Revel will allow us to keep on mitigating our environmental footprint through swifter electrification of communities as an enabler of a more sustainable mobility paradigm."
