This year’s Finals will be the first since the ITF announced in January that its 25-year, $3 billion partnership with sports investment group Kosmos was ending after only five years, throwing the future of the men’s national teams tournament into doubt.
Elsewhere, the ITF has appointed Spanish sports management agency Tennium as an event delivery partner for the 2023 Finals.
Under the deal, announced today (March 30), Tennium will support the ITF’s Davis Cup Finals team with all aspects of event operations in Spain.
The agency was appointed after a competitive tendering process and will begin supporting the ITF with immediate effect. It will work on the Davis Cup Finals group stage in Valencia along with the knockout stage in Malaga.
Tennium is also working with the ITF on the delivery of the Hopman Cup exhibition mixed teams event in Nice between July 19 and 23.
In addition, it is a partner of the ATP top men’s tour and the WTA top women’s tour. Among the other events in which it is involved are the Barcelona Open, the Argentina Open, and the European Open.
David Haggerty, president of the ITF, said: “We are delighted to welcome Tennium on board to support us in the delivery of this year’s Davis Cup Finals and they share our ambitious vision for the competition.
"It was important for the ITF that we had in place an experienced and professional team on the ground and Tennium, with its impressive record in delivering world-class tennis events in Spain and across the world, is the perfect partner for us and the cities of Malaga and Valencia.”
Kristoff Puelinckx, founder and chief executive of Tennium, added: “It is a great honor that the ITF entrusts us to help it organize this edition of the Davis Cup.
"We are very pleased to be able to bring our expertise and knowledge in delivering world-class tennis to Malaga and Valencia. Our aim is to support the ITF at every level for this historical and competitive event which is the World Cup of Tennis.”
