Wasserman Boxing, the boxing promotion arm of the US sports marketing and talent management agency, has announced that it has extended its multi-event boxing rights deal with UK commercial broadcaster Channel 5 for another year.
The deal, struck in partnership with bookmaker Ladbrokes and investment group Infinitum Entertainment, will see a minimum of six bouts shown free-to-air (FTA) across Channel 5’s linear channels and online platform My5.
Channel 5’s coverage of Wasserman’s boxing events will begin on March 24 with a world title fight in Bolton between the UK’s Lyndon Arthur and Argentine Braian Nahuel Suarez for the IBO World Light Heavyweight Championship.
The second fight on the schedule will see UK’s Harlem Eubank take on Mexico’s Christian Uruzquiieta on March 31.
Kalle Sauerland, Wasserman’s head of global boxing, said: “Ladbrokes is one of the world’s leading entertainment brands, and we’re delighted to be working with them to bring first-class, FTA boxing to the British public.
“We have an action-packed scheduled planned for 2023, that is going to see huge fights, big names, and upcoming stars all featured live and free on Channel 5.”

By GlobalDataThe new deal builds on a similar agreement struck last year between Wasserman and Channel 5, which saw five bouts shown FTA throughout the year in association with Infinitum Entertainment and the William Hill bookmaker.
Kelly Rose, head of brand marketing at Ladbrokes, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Wasserman Boxing bringing entertaining, top-drawer FTA fights on Channel 5 in 2023.
“It’s going to be an incredibly exciting year ahead and we can’t wait for the knockout action to get underway.”
Wasserman Boxing was formed in March 2021, through the acquisition of Team Sauerland, led by Kalle and his brother Nisse.
Through this vehicle, Wasserman is now looking to compete with leading UK boxing promoters Matchroom Boxing, headed up by Eddie Hearn, and Frank Warren with his Queensberry Promotions.
Los Angeles-based Wasserman, which was founded in 2002, is heavily involved in British boxing, with middleweight star Chris Eubank Jr, welterweight Josh Kelly, heavyweight Nathan Gorman, super lightweight Harlem Eubank, and middleweight Linus Udofia among the athletes on its books.
