This year’s US Open tennis grand slam has set a new all-time attendance record across the two weeks of the tournament.
A total of 776,120 fans attended the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York during the main draw to surpass the previous record of 737,872 set in 2019.
Including the US Open ‘Fan Week’, which was held ahead of the start of the tournament, the full, three-week attendance was 888,044.
The previous three-week best of 853,227 was also set in 2019.
For the first time in the 25-year history of the main Arthur Ashe Stadium, every session in the venue – now with a capacity of 23,859 – was sold out.
The US Open concluded last night (September 11) with 19-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz winning his first grand slam by defeating Norway’s Casper Ruud in the men’s final.

Meanwhile, in his home country in Norway, Ruud’s final loss was watched by a total of 240,000 viewers.
The match was shown on both the Discovery+ streaming platform and free-to-air on commercial broadcaster TVNorge.
The average audience across the two platforms was 189,000, while the match delivered a viewing share of 34.7%.
Hanne McBride, director of communications at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: “These are very good figures for a match that ended late at night.
“The viewing figures for the final show that the tennis fever in Norway is very real. With his fantastic play, Casper Ruud has really been a viewer magnet for our channels this season.”
Despite the loss, Ruud has climbed to number two in the ATP rankings.
The 23-year-old also lost the French Open final to Rafael Nadal, which was his first grand slam final.
